April 22, 2009 - Kane Is Able Member Recognition at Penn State University: 2009 CSCR Spring Meeting & Hadly Waters Symposium
State College, PA - Kane Is Able, was publicly recognized by Dr. William (Skip) Grenoble, Executive Director of Penn State University’s Center for Supply Chain Research (CSCR), as a five year corporate sponsor of the University’s Smeal College of Business during this year’s meeting. CSCR is celebrating its twentieth anniversary since its founding in 1989.
“Especially given the current economic situation,” Dr. Grenoble announced, “we truly appreciate the sponsorship of our corporate partners. Their involvement is directly tied to the research and successful results of the CSCR.”
The following day, Penn State’s Smeal College of Business hosted the 19th annual Hadly Waters symposium. The topic of the symposium was managing the risk and complexity of transportation in today’s supply chains. The one day program presented comprehensive points of view from several different sources.
Dr. Christopher Lofgren, President and CEO of Schneider National, Inc., delivered the keynote presentation. Dr. Lofgren addressed the group with the opening statement, “this is a business, not a hobby.” In order to prosper during the downturn, Dr. Lofgren stated that the current situation must be met with opportunity, not crisis.
Chris Sultemeier, Senior VP of Transportation of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., gave the luncheon address. Mr. Sultemeier’s presentation focused on the solutions Wal-Mart is striving to achieve on sustainability in both transportation and packaging.
