June 23, 2009 - Kane’s Green Piece—Halftime Report, Sustainability efforts continue to gain momentum
SCRANTON, PA. June 23, 2009 – Kane Is Able is pleased to report our 2009 half year (January through June) recycling efforts throughout our distribution network:
- 1.4 tons of plastic and aluminum cans
- 3.5 tons of office paper and magazines
- 1,609 tons of corrugated materials
To put our efforts into perspective, consider this…recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 mature trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 3 cubic yards of landfill space, 2 barrels of oil, and 4,100 kilowatt-hours of electricity — enough energy to power the average American home for five months. (EPA, 2008) | |
Other facts on how your efforts impact our environment:
- Recycling a single aluminum can saves enough energy to power a TV for 3 hours
- 5 plastic soda bottles yield enough fiber for one extra large t-shirt, one square foot of carpet, or enough fiber to fill one ski jacket
Many thanks to all our associates for your participation and good stewardship. Sustainability is everyone’s responsibility.
Keep it going, keep it growing, keep it Green!
